Cornelius C. Coleman (Jun 1, 1901 - Feb 28, 1905)
During the Intirmate of Rev. Truett, after the death of Rev. W.S.O Thomas, the authorities at Louisville Seminary had been requested to nominate one of their graduates. The choice was the most fortunate one. The new pastor thus chosen for West Washington was Dr. Cornelius C. Coleman. Under his leadership, West Washington advanced in spiritual and material prosperity during the four years of Dr. Coleman's pastorate. Evangelistic endeavors were richly blessed, and the beautiful auditorium of the new church was completed. With appropriate ceremonies, the church was dedicated on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1903. The anniversary address was delivered by Dr. E.C. Dargan, of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Former pastors present were Nelson, Huntington, Truett, Lodge, McCullough, and Thomas.
Following his success at the West Washington Baptist Church, Dr. Coleman served prominent churches of the Southland in San Antonio, Charleston, Durham, and Richmond.
