Walter O. Kersey ( 1952 - 1957)
The Successor to Rev. C. B. Austin was chosen November 1, 1952. He was the Rev. Walter O. Kersey. For a period of five years, Rev. Kersey ministered to Georgetown in its period of reconstruction and brought the church under consistent leadership to many advances. His untimely death, November 28, 1957, was a distinct loss to our Church. He came to our church from the First Baptist Church in Trion, Ga. During his pastorate there, a new church was erected. Born in Savannah, Ga, he studied at Stetson University, and the Southern Baptist Seminary, Louisville, Ky. He filled pastorates in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Georgia.
